I have a HRP5-120 whose screen flashes briefly. I can see Homeworks and what seems to be a bar moving from left to right on the bottom of the screen. Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this is appreciated.
Thank you for looking.

Use a serial cable and connect to the processor. If you are able to connect, upload the program.
If you are unable to connect, set DIP switch 1 to down (OS mode) and reboot. Upload the operating system (from terminal screen). Reset DIP#1 and reboot. You will need to upload the program again.
If you are not able to connect in OS mode, it is dead.
The Interactive and Illumination processors have a battery soldered on the system board. It had a 10 year life. Most of these units are well past that. You can get replacements but there is some special technique required for soldering LI batteries. You may have to search around for someone that can do it.

were you able to resolve your issue? I seem to have the same issue
So this thread was super helpful to me. I wanted to say I found a battery online for $7. Soldered it on board (no special tools), and it's working again! Thank you!!
Lithium-ion batteries are dangerous. They have a thin plastic barrier inside that separates the electrodes. Heat from soldering can weaken the barrier, shorting the electrodes, which could lead to possible explosion and fire. I strongly recommend you contact an experienced pro familiar with the techniques for soldering lithium-ion batteries.
