Home + App Failure
Hi All,
i have about 10 projects where the Home Plus App stops working.
it appears to be something to do with the Ethernet socket. there are only two ways to get it back online but it only lasts a few days before it goes off again.
Cycle the power on the network switch or Homeworks processor OR disconnect the CAT5e from the Homeworks Processor or Network Switch.
It looks like the TCP socket is overloaded with network traffic and shuts down.
has anyone else have this issue? or a solution?
Graham

Hello inkontrol,
Thank you for your post.
This is typical of a system that ha port forwarding setup for remote access purposes. If you can send a support file to hwsupport@lutron.com I can identify if those suspicions are correct.

HI Blair,
Yes you are correct, they do have port forwarding setup for remote access for the app and remote uploads.
Do you have a solution and why does that cause the socket to freeze?

Have had the same issue
The processor is seeing way to much traffic and the buffer is filling up. I believe the project I had the issue on was due to the ports getting hammered from the outside by port scanners. along with them being such common ports. I made my ports some real odd balls even though I saw traffic still coming in it wasn't as much. It resolved the problem. I was told by several people including Lutron the ethernet port was bad. I refused to accept that since it was spraticly working. I had the client get his network guy there and change the ports for me and that was almost 8 months ago and still hasn't locked up.

Also a great reason why port forwarding sucks So insecure and nothing but hassle. Port Forwarding should be Illegal LOL
