Question on Replacing Non-CAS Switch Faceplates

    Hi all,

Just getting introduced to the world of smart lighting.

I have a hallway light connected to two, 3-way conventional switches. One switch is part of a three-switch faceplate and the other a two-switch faceplate. I want to install a Lutron Casetta 3-way system. The problem is about installing the faceplates in the 3-way and 2-way switch faceplates.

Does Lutron sell faceplates that will fit into the conventional faceplates?

    Thanks a lot for tips.

There are 2 basic openings in faceplates - toggle and decorator. The toggle opening is the same one your great-great-grandmother had. Decorator is a fairly common standard. Lutron calls theirs designer. That other company from Pennsylvania calls theirs "decora." There are also a number of non-standard specialty openings.

All Lutron smart switches/dimmers fit the standard decorator opening. You can get combination plates (toggle and decorator). However, I would change the remaining devices to decorator style, even if they are not smart switches, just to maintain the look and feel.
