Keypad won't reset to factory settings

I was having trouble transferring to a RRD-W7B keypad so I tried to start over. The triple tap reset did not work. The first triple tap gets a slow blink on all the LEDs but as soon as you release they all go blank. If you quickly triple tap again they all go crazy. Other than that nothing works. Is the keypad bad?

I hope you got somewhere with this already- the process sounds like this:
    tap-tap-hold....wait for blinking...tap-tap-tap

there is a rhythm to this and it may take a few tries to get it right the first time.

I have reset quite a few of them before without any problems so I do not think it is the tapping technique. After fooling around with it for a while I was able to get it re-activated in my system but it still won't take a program transfer. If I press any button now all the LED's just blink real fast for a second or two which I think is just telling me it does not have any programming assigned to it. Not sure what to do next other than replace It?
