Skylark S@-LFSQ Fan Control / Dimmer: I was installing a new ceiling fan with light kit and I shorted a wire in the work box in the ceiling and the circuit breaker tripped. I reset it. I cannot get the dimmer switch to operate now. How does one test a Skylark Fan Control Dimmer. It is not set up like a traditional switch with the brass and silver screw plates on the side. Could I have fried the switch? Thanks. As you can surmise, I am a do it yourself home wrecker. Thanks in advance for any insights. Randy

It is possible that the control got damaged but I've seen them survive worse.

Make sure there is no fan control module in the fan. It is sometimes in the canopy but sometimes they are built in. Check the documentation to see if you have a "solid-state-fan." If it has pull-chain controls, it should work with your control.

If you want to test the dimmer, cap of the yellow (fan) wire and you have a standard incandescent dimmer. BTW, this dimmer is not rated for LED.
