mir-600 controlled lights not turning on. flash occasionally

I recently bought a house and the house has a mir-600 lutron switch. everything worked just fine for the first few weeks but then the other day i went to turn the lights on and nothing. i pushed the button again and the lights would flash on and off once or twice and then nothing. i have noticed if i push the top of the button a few times or the bottom of the button a few times i can usually get the lights to flash or blink. To be clear this is the light on the ceiling not the lights on the lutron switch itself. I have never used one of these switches before and was going to just remove it and put a traditional switch in but thought I would look to see if there was something I was overlooking.

    Thanks for any help.

The dimmer has a 50 watt minimum load and doesn't handle LEDs very well.
