Is there a way in essentials to tell a RRD6CLSW to operate in on-off mode only with no dim? I have 5 I want to use on circuits with fluorescent lighting rather than purchase all new switches.

There is no way to convert the in-wall dimmers to behave as switches in either version of the software. You'll have to replace them with RRD8ANSSW or swap to a dimmable fixture.

Question - would it not be possible to set the low- and high-end trim to 100%, and set the fade to 0 ?

While that would appear to work, and sometimes does in the field, the device is still a dimmer and is not instantly 100% or 0%. This causes excess wear on the ballast. I pulled that trick when a fluorescent fixture was spec'ed after the fact for a hybrid keypad. We made it work, but the hybrid failed repeatedly. $400 problem for a bad spec from the designer. I would only use that trick if dimmable replacements were on order, and I would also hide the devices from integration (customer would see the fixture as dimmable in the apps) until the replacements were installed.
