Thread: Wall Plug

    Wall Plug

So I just installed my first Casetta dimmer and hub. So far, so good. I am looking to expand my system and thought it would be awesome if I can control my pool filter from the app and set a schedule instead of using my current timer. Does Lutron make any plug that can do this? If they dont, they should strongly consider a smart outdoor outlet with gfi. I would use this for my pool, patio lights, and outlets on my front porch for Christmas lights and stuff.

Caseta Wireless doesn't have a single device rated for outdoor use. The plug in dimmer can be set to work as an on/off device but still it doubt it would hold up long if exposed to the elements. If you were a HomeKit user I would say try the iDevices outdoor plug.

Outdoor durability may or may not be a factor, but wattage rating is too low for a pool pump. 300W for a plug in dimmer module (remember, this is 120V only) or 600W at 120V/1350W/277V for the PD-5WS-DV in wall switch.

I didn't think about that part. Well the iDevices outdoor switch has the following info... General Rating: 10 amp (1200W)/Power Input: 120VAC, 60Hz.

The Caseta plug-in is a 2-prong device. Your pool pump is probably 3-prong.

You could use the Caseta PD-5ANS with a PHPM-SW-DV to control a standard GFCI receptacle. The PHPM is odd size so it will have to be inside.
