Does Lutron support the use of debuzzing coils between its dimmers and loads?

A while back, Lutron offered debuzzing coils (LDC -- lamp debuzzing coil.
Reference LDC-10-TCP. Application Note #13.). Are they considered effective
at reducing acoustic noise in 'problem installations'?
    Any suggested part numbers/sources/inductance values?

I have no idea but I'd love an answer to this question from Lutron :) :) :)

    Hello Reedman,

    Thank you for your post!

The Lamp Debuzzing Coil was designed to reduce the noise a MLV transformer or incandescent/halogen could make. What it does in reality is take the noise and shift it to the location where it is installed. If acoustic noise is buzzing, then yes it will help. If acoustic noise is RF interference, it may help, it all depends on the application.

If the acoustic noise is from LEDs or CFLs we do not recommend using the LDC with them. As it is not tested for LEDs/CFLs and the inductance they create can cause other issues besides buzzing.

As for part numbers the current available for purchase LDC model numbers are:

    CPW0037?, Rated for 400-800W @ 120V~ or 900-1500W @ 277V~

    CPW0036, Rated for 200-400W @ 120V~ or 450-900W @ 277V~?

    and CPW0035, Rated for 100-200W @ 120V~ or 100-450W @ 277V~

We do not have a spec sheet just app notes, 3, 13, and 17.

    We cannot advise on inductances.

    Hope this helps!

    Julia K.
