Thread: Taking on a new client with some OLD problems.

Taking on a new client with some OLD problems.

I visited with a new client who had a bad experience with an AV installer. The problem seemed to be that the prior dealer was not very skilled and we came in to clean up a defective AV and lighting system. Fortunately, the homeowners were able to provide me with their system file, which looked like it was done quickly without much care.

After I was done, there were problems, mostly with the RTI control system. Most of the keypad functions we were calling did not work. However, when pressed, or when the Lutron app was used they seemed to provide accurate feedback. Most of the problems had to do with pressing a function and nothing happening.

    Some things to note:

    - We upgraded the Main Repeater Firmware from 6.0 to 7.8 – is that too much of a “jump?”
    - Some of the settings in the software seemed to be missing or not filled in properly – such as Zone name or wattage – would that affect the control system?

    - It should be noted that we were communicating with the processor via IP – not serial.

Any help or direction would be appreciated.

This dealer sent in the project file for us to look at. The option to save the changes on a button hold was enabled. Since this option is enabled the RTI system would need to send the release instead of the button press. You could also disable this option, transfer the project file and then the press would work.

This option allows the homeowner to press and hold the button to capture and scene changes instead of using the Lutron Home Control+ app.

To enable to disable this option right click on a keypad in the programming screen and go to the advanced settings you will see an option to save the changes on a button hold

Thank you so much for your help guys - looking forward to getting back to the clients and setting this straight. I would have never figured that one out!
