Attached is a sample program that shows how to write a conditional and have the QED shades perform a R/S/L/S functionality. You may or may not be smart enough to do this.

So the button only does anything after sunset? I don't see any handlers for errors that the system may throw, do you usually set variables to a known state before programming a conditional?
In Craig's example, it appears you are correct - the button will only function when the "Time of Day" variable is set to "Night". Separate from this conditional, that variable is set to "Night" by the Sunset Astronomic timeclock event.
In HomeWorks Illumination systems, State Variables are automatically set to the "OFF State" after a transfer, unless otherwise specified. In the Time of Day variable case, "Day" is the OFF state. So until the Sunset astronomic timeclock event runs, the RSLS button will not function.
