Question QS + DMX Lighting Design Help Needed

I have a client that would like to add some lighting to his media room that would allow him to change the color to be "anything"; he is a big football fan and wants to have the accent lighting reflect the colors of the teams that are playing.

Poking around a bit it appears that DMX lighting may fit the bill for this but I know absolutely zip about DMX.

Client has a QS system installed and I see that there is a DMX512 interface (QSE-CI-DMX) that allows a QS system to communicate with DMX lighting.

Something akin to rope lighting that would be installed w/i the cove would probably suffice.

Can anyone give me a quick overview of the pieces/parts I would need for this along with some pointers on how to program something like this? I have all of the RGB values needed to create the colors, just not sure how it all fits together.

thanks for any advice you could share

Another reference document you could use for setup would be the DMX and HomeWorks QS guide attached to this post.

now that's pretty cool and very straight-foward...thanks for the pointers

quick question: does the QSE-CI-DMX "act" as a DMX controller or is it used to communicate to a DMX controller?

    thanks

The QSE-CI-DMX will be able to send DMX chanels to an intensity between 0 and 255. It provides a DMX output.
