buzzing noise from 3rd speed on RRD?2ANF

I have a 3 speed fan that was controlled by a manual skylark fan control without any issues. Last week I replaced skylark with a 4 speed RRD?2ANF control and when I switch to the 3rd speed, the RRD?2ANF starts buzzing.

Is there a way to disable the speed on the fan control that my fan does not like?
I guess what I am looking for is a customizable speed on a fan control. It would be great if that was an option

    Thanks

Very interesting. I just specified a RRD-2ANF and Fanimation Belleria fan. Fanimation tech support suggested that normally there aren't problems with Lutron fan controllers, but indeed, all the controls Fanimation sells are three forward and three reverse speed. As this is an exterior fan, I'm putting the fan controller in the equipment room, so keypads plus iOS will be how it's controlled. That said, I was planning on using the +/- buttons on the keypad to cycle through if we want it faster or slower. I guess if it's not a problem that it buzzes with longevity, I won't care so much.

This was Fanimation's reply this AM:

    Jon,

You will be able to use the control with the 4 speeds. However, if you hear humming coming from your fan, it could be the wall control. I'm not sure if it will happen, but just wanted to give you a heads up.

    Thank You,

Have you verified that the fan was on its highest speed before installing the control?

I also have (2) RRD-2ANFs in separate areas of the house, both tied to Hampton Bay fans. I get the same buzzing noise on both controls whenever I move the fan to the 3rd highest speed. I have verified that the fan is on the highest speed setting via the pull chain on the fan.

Mine is a casablanca fan but it sounds like hum is unavoidable unless you have a 4 speed fan.

Lutron why not give us an option to buy a 3 or 4 speed fan control?

What are the model number of the fan experiencing this issue?
Also did these fans come with their own controls?

Casablanca 66U73G Panama is the one I am having an issue with. Panama fans don't come with a dedicated wall control, but according to Casablanca would work with their 3 speed control. W-1411 looks identical to the Lutron's SFSQ-F-HO-WH Skylark, so I am wondering if you are making it for them?

66U73G is a discontinued model 3 speed model

All new Panama fans seem to be 4 speed models.

The RadioRA2 fan speed control is designed to work with ceiling fans that have the pull chains to control their speeds. Fans without the pull chains can contain proprietary control modules mounted in the fans. If the fan has a proprietary control module it could cause the fan to buzz when being controlled by the Lutron fan speed control. We would recommend contacting Casablanca to determine if a third party fan control can be used on their fan(s).

I don't have part numbers for the Hampton Bay fans I have 2 RRD-2ANFs tied to but these are basic ceiling fans with pull chains that do not have a proprietary control module.
