I have two12V halogen pendants on a Lightolier track. The pendants are connected to WAC Lighting transformers (EN-LQ50AR) that, according their specifications, "may generally be dimmed with standard Electronic Low Voltage (ELV) dimmers." The dimmer in use is the Maestro MAELV-600 dimmer whose specs also claim compatibility with ELV transformers. The dimmer does work, but only up to IL-4 on the dimmer switch. At any level beyond that, the halogen lights flash on and off and the bottom five green LEDs on the dimmer rapidly cycle up and down. The halogen lights cannot be illuminated at any level beyond IL-4. The same is true for spotlights with ecosmart 50W dimmable LED bulbs. The same symptoms appear with the halogen lights together with the LEDs, alone, or with the LEDs alone. (They all work with a regular switch or with the Lutron MACL-153MR dimmer; but one transformer buzzed with the dimmer, and the dimmer instructions claim that this dimmer should not be used with "low-voltage transformer-supplied appliances." Home Depot refuses to take back the very expensive MAELV-600, but it does not seem to work where it should.
