Controlling Caseta with the Lutron app on two different iPhones

Sometimes the wife is away on a trip; sometimes I am, so we both will probably need to control, change, whatever the lights controlled by our Caseta Wireless with Smart Bridge.

Is it possible to do so without making a mess of things? I.e., for each of us to have the Lutron app on each of our iPhones and for each of us to be able to access the Caseta and make changes?

Yes, you both can have the app. Considering your username, I am hesitant to comment on the "making a mess of things" part. Seriously, the only issue would be you making a change and she makes a change 2 seconds later. You think it didn't work and smash your phone before you realize a replacement costs $1,000!
