Caseta In-Wall Switch requires neutral but In-Wall Dimmer doesn't?

Hi. I have a Caseta In-Wall Dimmer that I decided to replace with a Caseta In-Wall Switch since I don't need the dimming functionality and plan to reuse the dimmer elsewhere. While the Dimmer had been working fine, I now find that the Switch requires a neutral wire, which doesn't exist in this switch box (home built in 1996).
    - why does the Switch require a neutral while the Dimmer doesn't?
    - Can I wire this switch at this location without a neutral?

    Thanks,

You need the pd-5ws on/off switch, it does NOT require the neutral. I assume you have the pd6 version.

If you don't have a neutral wire in the wall box, you would have to use the PD-5WS-DV switch. This switch comes with a LUT-MLC minimum load capacitor, which may need to be installed in parallel with the load if the load isn't above the minimum load requirement of the switch.

Quick Start Guide installation instructions: http://www.casetawireless.com/Documents/0301740.pdf.
Advanced installation instructions (see page 72 for LUT-MLC installation): http://www.casetawireless.com/Docume...ced%20Inst.pdf.

None of my boxes have a neutral so anywhere I want a switch and not a dimmer I have to use the PD-5WS-DV switch. However, why are those SOOOO expensive. The dimmers are in the $50-$60 range, but the switches with no neutral are in the $80-$90 range.

    Anyone have a good source???
