HVAC Controller "smarts"

Hi: If you your daily schedule says to set the "Wake" temperature for X, will the system simply adjust the setpoint at that time, or will it learn and adjust the setpoint in advance so the measured temp is X at the "Wake" time?

I dont believe Lutron stats actually learn Lutron engineers would have to comment on that. There are temperature control systems that do that especially in hydronic heating. There are many reasons systems will learn what it takes to heat or cool a room. The factors mostly involved are outside air temperature which drives water temperature used to heat. Another contributing factor is when a mass is heated such as a slab it will radiat heat well after the heat is turned off. Generally on a less technical system we would use just a outdoor reset controller to adjust water temperature. In more advanced set up we use communicating stats which tell the system all the parameters it took and how long it took to bring a space to set point. The controller learns from that and constantly adjust heating time and water temperature.

ekimla, Lutron's HVAC Controller does indeed have "smarts" built into the product where it will learn over time how long it takes to get the temperature to the programmed setpoint level. For example, if you program a "wake" mode for 6 AM to set the temperature to 70 degrees and the system learned over time that it takes approximately 20 min. to reach that temperature level, the system will call for heat/AC at 5:40 AM to get the temperature to 70 degrees at 6 AM. Note that this functionality only exists with Lutron's HVAC Controller, not the TouchPRO wireless thermostat.

That is correct. The feature applies to HVAC schedules programmed on the "program > thermostat" screen in both HWQS and RA 2. The feature does not apply to temp. adjustments triggered via timeclock events.
