Manually triggering smart away

If I manually trigger smart away, does it still wait until 6:00 pm to start randomly turning lights on? Will it still turn off at 11?

Unfortunately, yes!

So if I turn it on at 3:00 PM, will it still automatically control lights at 6:00 PM? Or do I need to trigger it manually within the 6-11 time window?

Yes. I have mine, and my customer's, set to automatically trigger smart away. That way if I/they are home, Smart Away is not triggered.
