    Lutron Hi-lume A-Series 1% dimming LED driver

I am trying to determine the max temperature rating on a Lutron Hi-lume A-Series 1% dimming LED driver

There is a note on the main product label that says "For rated warranty, tc not to exceed 65°"

Then there is a smaller sticker on top of the main product label that says "Type TL - 90/72°"

I would to know what each temperature number represents.

    Thanks in advance,

    Todd

Tc is the case temperature. Type TL is an electrical classification like Class P, NEMA-3, etc.

    Hello PruTodd,

    Thank you for your post!
What do the two temperatures mean on each TL rating?

On our LED driver spec sheets you will see some output ranges have a Type TL rating that is shown as two temperatures. Both of these numbers refers to the temperature on the enclosures cal point, one will be measured and the other is calculated.

    • The lower number, or second number, is an actual measured temperature on the enclosures cal point with the unit in a 40ºC ambient environment (TRef measured).
    • The higher number, or first number, is the calculated temperature on the enclosures cal point (TRef calculated).
      • In order to get the TRef calculated value we compare TRef measured to critical components max temperature rating.
      • The component that is closest to its max temperature rating in a 40ºC ambient is used for this calculation.

      • Lets say that at 40ºC ambient the cal point (TRef measured) it 70ºC and the component that is closest to its max rating is only 5ºC away.

        • To get the calculated temp (TRef calculated) you add the 5ºC to the 70ºC (TRef measured) to get a 75ºC rating.
        • This TL rating would be shown as "Type TL 75 º/ 70 ºC".

          Hope this Helps!
