Convert Sivoia QS Wireless from Battery to CSPS-P1-10-6 Power Panel

I have customer who is doing a complete remodel of the house and has Sivoia QS Wireless shades that I installed 2 years ago and would like to have them converted to Power supply due to the battery issues and how hard it is to replace the batteries since they are the Double AA's that you have to take the whole shade down. They have 10 shades in their house and they seem to last only 6-9 months. I know they say it isn't technically supported but they are willing to take the risk.

    Thanks,

    John

It sounds like they are using alkaline AA batteries. We recommend using only lithium AA batteries. They last roughly three times longer than their alkaline counterpart.

If they are using D cells, we would recommend alkaline batteries.

    Batteries

yes using alkaline. They can switch to Lithium, but since doing remodel and have access to run hardwired power they are still asking is there a way to switch this to direct power.

    Thanks,

Changing power source would include rewiring. This is not something we would suggest, since it would void the warranty.

You can find many examples of false or dummy batteries on the internet that people have created from dowels, pvc, etc that can sit in battery compartments and allow external power supplies to be used. The key is to have good quality contacts for the ends and the appropriate wire to handle the current requirements. Seems a bit hacky for a professional job, but if only results matter...
