    Question Fan motor compatibility

I have two fireplace blowers that I would like to hook up to Caseta:

    https://www.industrialfansdirect.com...cts/axc200b-es

    https://www.myfireplaceblower.com/fi...lower-fan-kit/

Are Caseta fan controls compatible with these two?

    TIA!
    Peter

Found out RSF specs: the blower motor is AC shaded pole (https://fireplaceblowersonline.com/r...an-blower-kit/). Basically, as simple as it gets and one step down from PSC. My guess is that fan control switches will work there?

Hello peterz and welcome to the forums!

Looking into the specification sheet on these motors they appear to call for a fully variable control (such as the Lutron Skylark SFS-5E). These controls behave more like a dimmer and do not have the low/med/high settings. Unfortunately, we do not offer a fully variable fan speed control in the Caseta family.

The PD-FSQN should ideally only be used with AC, paddle style ceiling fans that use pull chains. We recommend reaching out to the manufacturer of the motors to confirm if a third-party 3-speed fan control can be used on these.

Alternatively, we recommend putting these motors on a Caseta on/off switch such as the Original PD-6ANS or Claro DVRF-5NS.

Wait, the current control is fully variable but it's just a rheostat. I don't mind if I get low/med/hi instead as long as it's done via varying the resistance. Is that what fan control does?

Unfortunately the PD-FSQN will not be performing the low/medium/high the same way as a full variable control does; the PD-FSQN is a capacitive fan control only designed to mimic motors that drop into specific speeds, and can damage a fully variable fan motor, so unfortunately it is not recommended for this application.
