    Led driver compatible dimmer

I have a Hitlights magnetic led driver, m60l24dc-ar, that requires a mlvtriac dimmer. I'm using a dvcl-153p dimmer. Having problems with intermittent flickering. Am I using a compatible dimmer. Does lutron offer a better solution? Tia.

I've replaced the dimmer with a single pole switch and have not observed any flickering.

Hello Caceder. The DVCL-153P is not rated to control low voltage drivers or transformers. We would recommend the MA-PRO for the best performance. This dimmer requires a neutral connection, so make sure that is available before purchasing.

Kyle, thank you. I've orderd the MA-PRO, since I've not been able to find one locally, and will give that a try. I do have the neutral available so that won't be an issue.

I installed the Ma-pro. The flickering is better but it does happen occasionally. Any other thoughts? Tia, Craig

Hello Caceder. The MA-PRO is programmable to be able to control either reverse-phase-cut dimming lights as well as forward-phase-cut dimming lights. You mentioned previously that your lights have a magnetic driver, meaning they would require the dimmer to be set to forward-phase, but the dimmer comes default programmed for reverse-phase. We would recommend ensuring the dimmer is programmed for the proper phase for your lights. Linked here is the MA-PRO Programming Guide which includes the instructions for changing the phase on the dimmer.

    Kenneth-

Yes, I had to change to forward-phase to get it to work when i first installed it.

When does the flickering occur, at the high-end of the dimming range? At the low-end of the dimming range? If so, you can adjust the high- or low-end trim on the dimmer to cut out the part of the dimming range that causes the flickering. Does the flickering happen randomly, or is there a pattern to when it occurs? This may indicate what could be the root cause of these incompatibility symptoms.

I recommend using a Lutron MLV-compatible dimmer, such as the Diva DVLV-153P or Maestro MAW-600, for better compatibility.
