Ring Integration questions

I have 12 Ring cameras and am looking into buying about 20 switches for my home (Clara and Diva). Does the integration allow me to link each camera with a different set of light(s)? Or is there a limit to how many cameras you can link to switches?

Also, I noticed in a video re the Ring integration that the lights will stay on for 15 minutes if they are turned on by motion. Can this be adjusted to different times for each linkage (ie say 30 seconds)? For example, if the backyard camera gets motion can I set my bedroom lights to go on for 30 seconds. But if my front door camera senses motion - can it put the porch lights on for say 5 minutes?

one more question: and can I program my switches to only have these linkages take place only at certain times (say 6 PM to 6 AM)?

Hello askin, welcome to the Forums! To address your Ring questions:

-While you cannot choose a specific timeframe for the integration to activate lighting loads, you can choose for it to be active all the time or activate only at night!
-You cannot change the amount of time the lighting load stays on for after the integration activates it; it will always be 15 minutes. Other Caseta functions such as the Timer function may be used to override this. The lights will always come on to full brightness when activated from the integration; this cannot be changed either.
-You can customize which devices are turned on by which Ring device; see the screenshots below for how this app flow looks:

At 9 pm, motion is detected so the lights should come on (but they are already on). What will happen? More importantly, will the lights go off after 15 minutes? or is the app smart enough to know that since the lights were already on - then they should not turn off after 15 minutes.

The Countdown Timer feature that is native to the Lutron app supersedes any other command. This means, no matter how the control is turned ON (e.g. physically from the ON button, a Schedule, integration, etc.), it will always turn off after the 60 seconds has elapsed.

Ring is unaware of the current status of the lights. If it detects motion, it will simply send the ON command to the system and turn off after 15 minutes.

two points:

1) I actually called Lutron today (1-888-409-8483) and the guy I spoke with told me that if the lights were on previously that they would NOT turn off after 15 minutes. He said he was certain of this. Same question and two different answers.....

2) Brandon: if you're right that is completely useless. ie. You turn your indoor lights on manually at 7 PM. Motion on your camera takes place at 7:15 and then at 7:30 the lights automatically turn off and you have to turn them back on again manually?? That is a friggin joke! I can't set a timer on when I want the Ring integration (only night or day) so this overlap makes this product laughable. Who designed this crap? Ring Smart bulbs allow you to turn lights on with motion whenever you want (exact times: not day or night) and allow you to keep the light on for as long as you want(not 15 minutes: LOL) and definitely won't turn OFF any lights that were already on. So much for all that garbage on your website that tries to explain why your switches are better than smart bulbs......


This is significant because I have ZERO interest in these switches if they are going to turn my lights off (that I previously put on manually). Can someone please confirm what Brandon is saying? (Maybe someone who actually uses this integration)

Thank you for the correction, apologies for the misinformation. Ring will return the device to its original state after a trigger event occurs (i.e. motion, doorbell, etc.). This can be confirmed at the bottom of the FAQ here: Smart Lighting that Works With Ring | Caseta by Lutron (casetawireless.com). If the device was already on before the trigger, it will continue to stay on after the 15 minutes elapses.

Now, as a suggestion, please consider these additions:

1) it would clearly be better if we could have this integration at certain exact times during the day instead of the night or all day option. In fact what does night mean (12 pm - 12 am ?) or dusk till dawn in my area?

2) it would be nice to set your own timer for how long the lights stay on

these additions are controlled on your side and have nothing to do with RING so it should be easy to do.....
