Maestro MACL-153M-WH-C Not working upon install

    Hello,

I have track lighting that has 8 LED bulbs. (Sylvania LED16PAR38/DIM/830/FL40 - 16W). I currently use DIVA DVCL-153P, but wanted more control over the lighting so purchased MACL-153M-WH-C. I wired it in exactly the same (single pole) and it will not operate the lighting. It shows IL1 illuminated so I know there is power, but won't do anything else. If I remove and reinstall the DIVA unit, it works perfectly. As far as I can tell, they have the same compatibility specs. Please advise, since I can't find any literature indicating what IL1 being illuminated means.

Make sure you have power in connected to the black screw on the Maestro. The wire going to the light should be connected to the brass screw. The blue screw is not used in single pole applications.

    Hey Randy,

The switch is wired as you described. The indicator light IL1 is also lit, so I can see that the unit is powered.

You may be stuck in manual programming mode. You can rest to factory defaults as follows

Pull the FASS out and wait 5 seconds.
Press and hold the tap button then push the FASS in. Continue to hold the tap button for 15 seconds. The load light should turn off then back on to 100%.

The dimmer will enter program mode (IL1 will turn on). Don't stop the reset - continue to hold.

Piggybacking on this thread with a same/similar issue. I have a single pole install issue. There's currently a Lutron Toggler dimmer installed. Yesterday I installed a Maestro MACL-153M-WH-C in its place and it didn't work. I made some adjustments and I noticed that 2-3 of the bulbs in the fixture were glowing faintly. The fixture is a dining fixture with 6-8 led bulbs. Again, it worked fine with the Toggler. After jacking with it for at least 30 minutes....I did a factory reset and got the same thing. I assumed a bad switch so installed a Caseta I had in it's place with the same effect....a couple bright flashes while adjusting but no lights. Again, 2-3 bulbs glowing faintly. I reinstalled the toggler and everything works fine. So for some reason the Maestro and Caseta both do not work on that single pole circuit. The line is landed on the black screw and the load on the brass screw. Any ideas?

Hello jlazaro317, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you may have a slight incompatibility issue with the Maestro and Caseta dimmers that you don't have with your Toggler dimmer. This is because the Maestro and Caseta dimmers are more alike eachother than either are with the Toggler, since both the Maestro and Caseta are digital dimming controls that have different internals from the Toggler dimmer. The main difference is that the Maestro and Caseta do not completely cut power to the light fixture when they are in their "off-state" which would explain the faint glowing (a common symptom we refer to as ghosting). If you would like to use either the Maestro or Caseta dimmers, we would recommend swapping out the LED bulbs you are using with ones from our LED Compatibility tool, linked here. Simply input your dimmer model and it will provide you with the full list of LED bulbs and fixtures that we have tested and confirmed good compatibility on; you can use the filters on the tool to narrow down the search to best match your current bulbs.

I just wanted to check back in and confirm that it was definitely a bulb compatibility issue. Bulbs changed and all good. Thanks!
