    Maestro companion dimmer not working

I recently replaced a Maestro dimmer (MACL-153M) and companion dimmer (MA-R) with a Diva smart dimmer + pico paddle. So I decided to try to move the Maestro dimmer and companion to a different 3 way switch so it can have a dimmer.

I believe I've wired it up correctly but the result I'm getting is that the master dimmer works as expected but the companion dimmer doesn't work. If the lights are off and I hold down the companion button, the lights will turn on very dimly but will turn off as soon as I release the switch.

    Things I've tried:
Verified that the master dimmer is set to operate with companion dimmers instead of mechanical ones
    Reset the master dimmer
Swap the position of the master dimmer and companion
Reinstalled the previous mechanical 3 way switches and verified they work correctly

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

I think I figured out the problem. My wiring is not the conventional setup for 3 way wiring. Instead it appears to be done like this: https://www.electrical101.com/option...-switches.html

Does anyone know if there's a way to install the dimmer and companion with this wiring setup?

Thanks! Unfortunately I only have 1 traveller wire so it looks like I can't use the maestro dimmers. I think I'll need to just have 1 mechanical dimmer paired with 1 mechanical switch.

A standard mechanical 3-way setup requires two travelers as well. If this is how your original setup was, then you must have two travelers.
