    Pico remote compatibility

I’m looking into purchasing the outdoor smart plug PD-15OUT-BL, but for indoor use because my lamp comes with a 3-prong plug, so the standard lamp dimmer PD-3PCL-WH unfortunately won’t work.

my question is, can I pair the pico remote PJ2-3BRL-WH with it? I understand the outdoor smart plug is not a dimmer; I simply have an extra PJ2-3BRL at home. Would the dimmer buttons simply not do anything when pressed?

on a related note, will Lutron ever produce a lamp dimmer that accommodates lamps with 3-prong plugs? These are getting kind of common nowadays….

    thanks in advance

Hello Chanor and welcome to the forums!

Yes, you are welcome to pair a PJ2-3BRL-GWH-L01 to the PD-15OUT-BL. As you suspected, only the top ON and bottom OFF buttons will work, the raise and lower will serve no purpose. We also appreciate the feedback regarding the PD-3PCL. I will be happy to forward this for possible future product support!

    thank you for the feedback!

Just one quick follow-up. If the lamp itself has a built-in dimmer, that's not a problem for the PD-15OUT-BL isn't it?

Correct, we would recommend prioritizing the PD-15OUT. Even if the PD-3PCL had 3-prongs you might've ran into compatibility issues on this setup (dimmer trying to dim another dimmer). There is a way to program the PD-3PCL into switch mode but we cannot guarantee it to perform well with a dimmer downstream.
