Hub or extender?

I have a hub for my family room/main floor. In order to connect my switches in the basement should I extend my hub with and extender (which I believe needs to be I. Range of the first hib) or purchase a second hub (which will need to be specifically selected as another house in the app)

As long as your Caseta system is under 75 total devices (including your Hub and Range Extender you will be adding), you shouldn't need a second Hub.
