Discontinued Desert Stone (satin color) for Maestro devices

Needed to replace Lutron MSC-600H incandescent dimmer(s) with newer LED compatible MACL-153MLH or similar. Incandescent lamps are almost impossible to find and will only get harder. The MSC-600H will not fully turn off the LED lamps and the dimming is not smooth.

The closest available satin color to "Desert Stone (-DS)" is Almond or Ivory and neither is even close when included in a multi-switch ganged plate. The problem is that there are litteraly hundreds of devices in this home and the customer was not happy that Lutron would drop a color that they loved.

Solution found: The plastic faceplate (with the switch paddle, dimmer adjustment, etc.) of the MACL-153-XX LED+ pops off by carefully pushing in the four tabs and carefully lifting it away from the metal box with the electronics. Similarly, I removed the plastic faceplate from the old Lutron MSC-600H-DS (desert sand) and snapped it onto the MACL-153-XX LED+ device. It fits and works perfectly. I will still need to buy new LED+ plus dimmers for each of the old incandescent dimmers that need to be changed, but with the device faceplates replaceable with the old ones, the switches all still match. I do not know if swapping out Maestro plates will work for all devices, but wanted to share this.
