Question Do Caseta switches adjust for sunlight?

I am a homeowner without a lot of tech savy.

My electrician installed a pendant light for me, to hang directly in front of a window.
Once connected, the fixture lit up but is flickering and won't turn off.
My electrician told me that the problems are because the Caseta dimmer adjusts the light level to compensate/accomodate for the amount of sunlight.

This makes no sense to me. Are there really people who want their lights adjusting when a cloud goes over the sun?

Obviously, my electrician needs to fix this. (Wiring seems the likely culprit to me.) I am only writing to see whether he is speaking nonsense to me.

Maybe I need a new electrician...

    Thank you!

    hahaha, you are correct.

    that's nonsense.

seems like the problem is that your pendant cant be dim

do you have the spec sheet of your pendant? wich caseta dimmer do you have?

Hello, the only way that a Caseta dimmer would adjust the light level from sunlight was if it was paired in standalone to a wireless daylight sensor (which would not be compatible with the Caseta system on the Lutron app) or Radio PowrSavr motion sensor in LowLight mode (also not compatible with the Caseta system). It could be a wiring issue like you said or also compatibility between the dimmer and the pendant light (or its driver, if an LED fixture). Feel free to call in to our 24/7 support line, 1-888-Lutron1 (588-7661), and one of our agents can troubleshoot this further with you!
