    Precision about Skylark Fan Dimmer

    Hi everybody

I would like, in a room, to install 2 separate Switch-Dimmers for the fan and its LED lights.

I see that there are 3 models that seem to me to do the trick: Skylark, Skylark Contour and Lumea.

But these products seem hard to get (in Canada), especially in the "pale almond" color.

I could still find Skylark products on Amazon or in store.

Can the controller switch "Skylark Sfsq-lf-la" control the fan or does it have to control the light?

Can a dimmer (LED light) be used to control the fan?

    Please

Yes, you can only use the fan portion of the SFSQ-LF. Make sure you cap off the yellow lead. Then you can use a 2nd device to control the lights.

    Thanks

But can the on/off switch control the fan in addition to the dimmer?

    Please

The SFSQ-LF is a dual control designed to simultaneously control both a ceiling fan motor load up to 1.5A and up to 360W of lighting load. The control can be rewired in a way that allows for it to operate as a preset fan control but this prevents it from controlling any lighting loads. To do so, follow these steps:

    1. Cap off the black lead.
    2. Connect a hot feed to the yellow lead of the SFSQ-LF.
    3. Connect the red lead of the SFSQ-LF to the fan.
    4. You now have a quiet fan speed preset control for a fan only.

Note: The slider can never be at the lowest (off) position. It must be at one of the 3-speed levels.

Another, and simpler, alternative would be using a CTFSQ-LF-LA assuming you can locate one online or in-store.

To answer your question, a dimmer can not be used to control a fan motor load, nor should a control rated only for fan motor loads be used to control lights.

    Great

That's exactly the answer I'm hoping for.

And, in addition, you tell me the connections to be made.

    Thanks a lot
