Matter standard compatibility?
I am looking into upgrading my home switches to Lutron Caseta's. I use Google home.
Is the current Caseta bridge compatible with the upcoming Matter product standard, or will it be updated to be compatible?
Has Lutron agreed to make the next generation of bridge Matter compatible?
Essentially my question is: will there be a way to make Caseta switches matter compatible?

No current hardware is compatible with any future standard or protocol. The bridge is capable of firmware updates. However, in some cases a hardware change is required for compatibility. We now have the Caseta BDG2 because a hardware change was required for Apple compatibility. Caseta devices (dimmers, switches, etc.) do not support firmware updates.
Lutron typically does not comment about products in development. Lutron is a member of CSA, the organization developing matter.
My guess is that Matter will consider the entire Caseta system as a single device. Matter will specify the communication between the Caseta bridge and other systems. Communication between the Caseta bridge and devices would continue to be by whatever protocol Lutron chooses (currently ClearConnect).
