Thread: Installing an MS-OPS2 with No Ground Wire Inside Junction Box

  1. #1

Question Installing an MS-OPS2 with No Ground Wire Inside Junction Box

I am trying to install a few MS-OPS2 in place of a regular light switches that I have around my apartment. Inside each junction box throughout my apartment, there are only two wires inside: one red and one blue. There are no neutral or ground wires found.

The wiring diagram doesn't have any installation examples on how to do this without a ground or neutral wire. How can I install the MS-OPS2 without a ground wire?

Hello! The MS-OPS2 requires in order to function either a ground or neutral connection. If there is neither in the wallbox the MS-OPS2 cannot be installed. If you're not able to run a ground or neutral to this wallbox location, and if your light is dimmable, we'd recommend to use the MSCL-OP153M sensor/dimmer combination. The MSCL-OP153M does not require a ground or neutral in order to function. We hope this helps!
