Newer Cree lamp and RRD 10 ND

BA19-04527OMF-12DE26-2U100 is a new version of a CREE led that is on the approved LED lamp list for the Ra2 dimmer RRD 10ND installed in a mixed ceiling/vanity application.

The client is complaining that they updated to this LED lamp and the lamps are buzzing, not the dimmer. They updated the 3 lamps in the vanity to the CREE LED lamps, but not the incandescent ceiling.

We asked them to remove the ceiling lamp so that all lamps were LED - no improvement.

Lutron, do you have an update to the list? Or a report card for the lamp I've listed above?

We are sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your application. Unfortunately, there is currently no industry standard when it comes to manufacturing LEDs and the performance will vary greatly from one to the next. When LEDs are used on a dimming control, depending on the design of the bulb, they can produce high current spikes. These high spikes may cause the bulbs or the dimmer itself to produce an audible buzz or hum. Due to design and manufacturing variation, the volume of this buzz will differ from one to the next. At this time, we have not tested these bulbs, so we would not be able to guarantee a dimming solution for them. We would suggest contacting the manufacturer to see if they have a dimmer (such as an ELV or reverse phase control dimmer) that they can recommend which will not produce an audible noise.

The most current list of Ra2 dimmers can always be found at www.lutron.com/led.

digit1- you can always call the LED hotline at Lutron- 877-DIM-LED8. Sometimes they have more up-to-date info than the published sheets.

Did you try a RRD-6CL or RRD-6NA? These Cree bulbs seem to have integrated drivers, so instinctively I'd think 6CL.

No news yet. The project is 12 hours away and we are not the electrical contractor, we are the AV integrator. The client is going to stick with incandescent until we can coordinate a visit with every dimmer we can muster and an electrician with a sense of humor. My gut says 6CL will likely be the best choice too.
