Switch only turns on w/o anything plugged in

I have exterior outlets controlled by a standard Caseta on/off switch (not dimmer), but it's behaving oddly:

When I turn it on (physically or via the app), the little green LED shows that it's on.

If I turn it on, THEN plug something in (such as my LED Christmas lights), they light up and stay on until I turn it off.But once I turn the switch off, it doesn't turn back on again unless I unplug EVERYTHING from all outlets on the circuit, turn the switch on, then plug it all back in.

    Any ideas why?

It sounds like a compatibility issue. You can try the LUT-MLC. It will take some engineering to get it to work with plug-in loads though.

I hade this exact problem. After double checking my wiring, I had incorrectly reversed my load and hot wires. Should be Hot to Black and Red to Load. That fixed me up!
