    Existing wiring

Trying to install Luther on CL dimmer switch.

The wiring on my existing switch has two black wires connected to one screw, and a red wire connected to another screw, as well as a ground wire connected to a screw in the box.

The installation video says to Cap off the red and white wire on the new dimmer switch.

That’s would leave one one of the existing back wires unconnected. Should I cap this wire off or do I connect it somewhere?

It sounds like you have a single pole light switch, with 1 switch controlling light(s). If so, treat the black wires on the dimmer the same as the two screw terminals on the switch.

Connect the two black wires that on the same screw to the black lead/terminal of the new dimmer. Connect the other black to the red wire. Cap-off the red/white wire.

If two black wires are together on the same screw, they're LIKELY a hot in and a hot out that goes to somewhere else like an outlet. The red is LIKELY the switched hot. Sometimes it's the other way around where you have one hot in and two switched hots. If you're not sure, test and never guess with electrical. IMO, it's not enough to just read the instructions for a switch or dimmer and attempt electrical work without having at least a very basic knowledge of home wiring or a wise friend/relative who has done this before to guide you and double check your work.
