Caseta + Nest thermostat 2nd generation

Does anyone have tried to pair these 2?

I'm about to buy a whole lot of nest thermostats (2nd gen) to equip a few condos and I want them to work within the caseta app systems. I've read Nest is actually compatible with caseta (again, using lutron's app), but have never done it and don't know if its exclusively with nest 3rd gen.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

    Alex

Caseta Wireless works with all generations of Nest thermostats.

Maybe I am just dumb and missed this, but help me out here. I see my three Nest Thermostats on the Lutron app although the Protects do not show up anywhere. Nonetheless, I thought I could control the Nests with Siri like the lights. Did I miss something?

You did. You can control only HomeKit devices with Siri - those are the Lutron devices you connect to the Caseta bridge. Nest integration is limited to showing you current thermostat state in the Caseta app, it is not integrated into Caseta bridge.

Here's a follow up question, related to Nest integration - I've gotten the smart bridge connected with my Nest but now seeking a device to control window plug in air conditioners. My nest controls heating only so I'm on a mission to find a device that can either connect via HomeKit, Nest or Smart Bridge to control the "dumbest" part of an apartment setup - window AC units. Has anyone come across a solution?

Just an update to my earlier post - it seems that Tado (https://www.tado.com/us/smart-ac-control-setup) smart AC is homekit enabled (or soon will be) and also has an IFTTT channel. My guess is that the IFTTT channel can be paired with Lutron Caseta and Nest, thereby allowing one to have window AC control dependant on setpoint temperature, which can then be paired with modulated shading for direct solar control. Has anyone else given such a setup a shot?
