Difference between the Lutron LRF2-OWLB-P and PD-OSENS?

what is the difference between the Lutron LRF2-OWLB-P-WH Radio Powr Savr Wireless Wall-Mounted Occupancy/Vacancy Sensor, White and Lutron Caseta Motion Sensor | Occupancy/Vacancy | PD-OSENS-WH | White

The PD-OSENS only works with Caseta. The LRF2-OWLB is part of the Radio Powr Savr (RPS) family and works with Energi TriPak, Quantum, Energi Savr Node, Maestro Wireless, myRoom, Vive, GRAFIK Eye QS, RadioRA 2, HomeWorks QS, RA2 Select, and Athena systems.

The RPS sensors can work together. If you had an L shaped room you could put one in each leg and get full coverage. That may be a function of the system they are working with.

Caseta did not originally have a sensor option. The RPS sensor was modified to work with Caseta.

No. Only the PD-OSENS works with Caseta.

Hi usna71, the LRF2 sensors can pair directly to the Caseta dimmers, but it will not work as part of the system. So if you have a dimmer that is connected to a Smart bridge you wouldn't be able to pair a sensor to it. However if you just have a few dimmers around your home with no Smart bridge, then you could pair a sensor to one or multiple dimmers.

Can you say what the specific differences are? Protocols and RF frequencies? I get pretty frustrated finding in one place word that say the LRF2 is compatible with the Caseta dimmers and now finding that is only half the story, but they are not compatible with the Caseta system when using the Hub. What features do we get when we have the Caseta version that is compatible with the Hub? Where is that documented?

The only difference between the PD-OSENS and the LRF2-OWLB is the firmware that allows the PD-OSENS to be paired to the bridge and programmed through the Caseta app. I've included links to the spec sheets for both devices below.PD-OSENS spec sheet - https://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocu...G.pdfLRF2-OWLB spec sheet - https://www.lutron.com/TechnicalDocu...69481a_ENG.pdf

Will the PD-OSENS motion Sensor turn your lights on and back off when configured to th Caseta Wireless Dimmer switch?

When paired to a Caseta dimmer the PD-OSENS will wirelessly send a signal to the Caseta device to automatically turn the lights on or off depending on whether the sensor detects occupancy or vacancy. The PD-OSENS can be used standalone (paired directly to the Caseta dimmer/switch) or in the Lutron app via the Caseta smart hub.
