    Fan operation

Hello,i have the Lutron Fan controller installed and understand it will not work with fans that have their own controller/remote and is meant for fans with pull-chains. however, i was wondering if the switches would work simply as an on/off switch for the fan? Obviously the speed control would not work, but that is ok. Or would it be better to get the dedicated light/fan on/off switch that Lutron sells? Thanks,Alex

Alex,Yes. The Caseta switch will work to just turn the fan on/off. I personally didn't have separate wall controls for my own fan/light combo fixtures. I have the Caseta switches installed to turn the fan/light on and then use the pull chains on the fixture to adjust the speed and the lights. One thing to note: if you have both the lights and fan pull chains set to "off" at the fixture, the indicator LED on the Caseta switch may not work until you turn on one of the pull chains.
