Thread: LED bulbs worked great at first then began flickering.

LED bulbs worked great at first then began flickering.

A month or so ago I installed a PD-6WCL dimmer to control six 4 watt (40 watt equivalent) LED bulbs in my dining room chandelier. Both the dimmer and the bulbs have worked great until now. Today they started flickering for some unknown reason, and then just as inexplicably stopped flickering after several hours. I'm perplexed. Any ideas regarding causes or solutions?

Try and think about what else was going on when the flickering occurred. AC running, washer/dryer, microwave, anything that is close by (may be on the same circuit) that pulls power. Maybe even a TV. If it seems to be another device that is causing the flickering, replacing with the PD-10NXD would be a good start, as long as you have a neutral in the box.

The only thing I can think of that might have been out of the ordinary since I installed the dimmer is that the furnace may have been running. My house was built more than 40 years ago, so there are no neutral wires in any of the switch boxes.
