Some Phillips WarmGlow lights flicker on Caseta Wireless

Just thought I'd share an interesting experience I just had switching my kitchen lights to LED.

In another room I have a Caseta wireless dimmer running 2x Phillips GU10 WarmGlow (the kind that have two sets of LEDs in them and switch over at lower levels to the warmer lights) bulbs on it. Total is about 14 watts I think. These work fine - no buzz or flicker.

In the kitchen, I just swapped 5x PAR20 Halogen lights to Phillips WarmGlow PAR20 LEDs. Total 35w load on the switch.

Immediately when turning the switch on, the lights pulsed. Short flash of light every second or so. Eventually I could manipulate the brightness on the dimmer to get them to catch and I could then adjust the brightness properly, but turning them off and on again caused them to flash.

I played with the low-level trim setting, but this didn't seem to fix the problem - I could get the lights to come on stable with a press of the 'up' button, but using the 'on' button simply had them flashing again. Replacing one of the lights with a halogen bulb provided enough load to get them to all work properly.

    Odd that the 2x 7w GU10 bulbs work fine, but the 5x 7w PAR20 don't.

Any other advice before I take them back?

    Thanks.

It sounds like a wiring issue or a compatibility issue.

If you have the neutral in the box for the dimmer, switch to the Caseta Pro dimmer- PD-10NXD-WH. I had the same issue with R20 WarmGlows in my kitchen on RadioRA2. Same internals on the dimmers. Tried the shunt capacitor to no avail. Replaced with the neutral dimmer and performance is great. Love the WarmGlows, just wish it was 27K-18K instead of 22K.

Rule of Thumb- neutral dimmers/switches ALWAYS perform better.
