Question obtaining battery status of a device

when the status of a battery associated with a device changes (normal (1) to low (2) or from low (2) to normal (1)) is the device status msg sent unsolicited by the processor? Or do I need to occasionally query the device by sending "?device,<id>,1,22" messages?

    jkvossen,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this.

You would have to send the command to query the device periodically. It would not be something that would happen all the time.

    Josh...thanks for the reply..

does that mean the Lutron's Connect app periodically queries each battery powered device? Or does the QS processor query each device and "holds" the status for later retrieval? I was kind of hoping the device would send the appropriate status when it transitions (along with supporting the query).
