I converted my home to almost exclusively LED. As a result, I have quite a few main floor lights come on whether we're home or not and dim and brighten based upon our evening routines. The power draw of these fixtures is just so small that I feel like it's just not an issue anymore to have a number of lights come on. As a result, the away mode doesn't make many changes anymore, and I feel like security lighting is best when it looks like the way you actually use it normally.

Based on what the LED fixtures say for cost of consumption, I'd guess we're wasting something like $20 per year in power by having lights on when we're not in those rooms. I don't even feel bad about the power I'm using from an environmental perspective at this level, despite being a bit of a tree hugger.
