Backup Configuration
I Go into Home Works Illuniation system using Home Works Illumination software 1.65 and connect with the telnet console
I then extract the project (down arrow) and save it. it saves as an HDF file which is 256KB
I try to open it I get the error message 3343 unrecognized data base format
A normal project file is 2000kb
What could be the issue, I like to backup my config before I make changes

That small of a file is a corrupted file. Usually when that small it it unrepairable by Lutron.

Whe I hit the down arrow the file corruption is always the same so what could I be doing wrong. Is there some setting that could be causing this

You are not doing anything wrong. The file stored is not the same file running. Basically the processor stores a copy of the running file on upload. When you extract you extract the stored copy. The copy that is stored is either corrupt or getting corrupted during the extraction. This is not uncommon unfortunately especially after the illumination app was introduced the xml files corrupted easily. You can try a few things that i have had luck with in the past. Try extracting at a lower baud rate try extracting with ethernet or try extracting with Lutron extraction utility sometimes it helps and it takes several attempts
