Control of fan & light

I am looking for a single gang Caseta solution to control a ceiling fan and light. I have read here that the Caseta fan control does not work well with older fans and I can live with just on/off for the fan and will control the fan speed with the pull chain.

Is there a way of having both the fan on/off switch and a conventional lamp dimmer in a single gang box however, or do I need to make the box a two-gang box?

This is what I am trying to replace. Fan speed and light in a single box.

There is no dual control fan/light offered in Caseta at this time. The only option you would have to keep a single gang is to use a Caseta Switch PD-6ANS or PD-5WS-DV and just use it to turn the fan and light on with you regulating the fan speed from the pull chains as you mentioned, Otherwise you would need to make this a two gang box with one for the dimmer and one for the switch or fan control.

Where can I get a PD-5WS-DV?

You can find a list of local distributors @ www.lutron.com/wheretobuy. Online retailers such as Amazon will also usually have the PD-5WS-DV in stock.
