Does the unit need a wall box? Or can I mount it on a WBX-ADAPT to the flat wall and a screwless wallplate without cutting a hole?
No hole required. On the back of the Pico there is a clear plastic adapter. Mount it to the wall and then slide the Pico onto it. The screws must be flush with the clear plastic. If they protrude, even slightly, the Pico won't slide on. You can then mount a plate around the Pico if desired.
The WBX-ADAPT is only required if you are mounting the Pico to a switch box.
