Aux Repeater over RS-485 to Fiber Converter?

I have a guest house I'd like to add on to our RA2 system, I already have 12 strands of single mode fiber going to it, so I can use an extra pair for an RS485 to Fiber converter, has anyone tried this? I would think it should work. I'm sure a second main repeater would be ideal, however I don't want to spend for the Level2 training (and take a day off work since it seems to be only offered as a 3 day class) to get the second main repeater. So this is my work around. Would it work?

If you have enough addresses you could put an aux repeater in the guest house. It will need 3 conductors - mux, mux, common.

The 2nd main repeater will require Ethernet, NOT RS485. Assuming you have network in the guest house you would be good to go.

I haven't done it but based on this app note it seems the answer is yes.
