Hi, we are due to survey a site with flood damage next week and we have only worked on the HWQS equipment, I had a quick look at the illumination design software and it was reasonably familiar, my question is what is the best way to hook up to the series 8 processor and then download the existing config?

You can not extract the existing, running program. However, if the last programmer did a synchronized upload, there will be a backup copy of the database that you can extract. Sometimes the backup gets corrupted. Depending on the size of the project, the file should be 1-2 MB. Tech support may be able to repair the database if it is corrupted.
The best way is to connect directly via RS232. The US model has a DB9 connector.
