Remote access for installer to RA2 system

I was wondering what is the best method (or I guess what is needed) for an installer to access a clients RA2 system remotely to make small changes to programming ? Is VPN the only way ?

Lutron only supports using a VPN connection to remotely perform transfers to the system.
