Windows Shift/Control Commands?

Let's suppose I've put 50 landscape loads into an area titled "exterior" before I had a complete breakdown of the landscape lighting. Now I want to cut and paste 10 loads and move them to one area, cut and paste another 10 loads to move them to another area, and so on.

Am I missing something or do basic windows commands such as control/click or shift/click to select multiple items not exist?

Please tell me I am missing something.

p.s. I realize I can cut and paste an entire area, but that doesn't accomplish anything in this circumstance.
