Dummy Caseta With Pico to Operate Garage Door
I have a garage door opener already working with Homekit but we tend to operate it with the physical remote balanced on a kitchen windowsill. Ideally I'd like a "light switch" method of operating it so we can just press a button and open / close the door. I'm wondering if I can install a caseta as a powered dummy switch somewhere (probably the garage) and then link a Pico remote to that installed behind a plate in the kitchen. Then I'd use a scene in Homekit so that when you operated the Pico it opened the garage door. What do you think ?
Creating a relay circuit with low or no voltage
Simply wire a relay into the circuit that the caseta controls so that when the wireless switch is activated it closes that relay through which the garage door switch is wired - the pico would control the switch and the door could be activated - be sure to pick the correct relay that has a momentary closure to simulate a press button
